There's a New Buffalo in Town

There's a new buffalo in Bartlesville. Isn't he pretty? On one side he's painted in oranges and the other is done in pinks. I've posted pictures I took of some of the other bison, but I neglected to tell you these unique works of art are part of a fundraising project for Mary Martha Outreach, a non-profit organization in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They supply aid, both materials and services, to those in the community with a need. Kind, caring people and fun buffalo art; you've got to love it.

  1. I do love it!

First, I tip my hat to the kind and caring people in your community who are willing to come to the aid of those in need.

Secondly, the new buffalo is fabulous. The colors and artwork are astonishing and the form of the buffalo amazes me. I could sit and look at it all day.

Do you know what the buffalo is made from?

  2. Shaddy - Thanks for the comments. They are made of fiberglass, and after the artist paints them, they are covered with automotive clear coating. To care for them and protect the artwork, they need to be waxed (with some sort of special car wax) every year. This year, as part of the United Way Day of Caring, I'm going to be waxing bison with a group of co-workers. How exciting is that. :) I'm sure I'll post something on the blog when that happens, sometime mid-September.
    Have a great weekend!
